Charlecote is a village and civil parish 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Warwick, on the River Avon, in the Stratford-on-Avon district, in the county of Warwickshire, England. In 2011 the parish had a population of 194.
The name “Charlecote” means ‘Free peasants’ cottage(s)’. Charlecote was recorded in the Domesday Book as Cerlecote. On the 25th of March 1886 a part of Wellesbourne Mountford parish was transferred to the parish. “Charle Cot” is an alternative name from historical writing for “Charlecote”, “Charlcote” is an alternative name for the parish unit.
