I came across your site while looking for accommodation in in the area, planning a visit ... My aunt's place ... was just down the road from this phone box and during the 70s, when we stayed with her all summer, it was the only way we had of keeping in contact with our parents who were many miles away in Berkshire.
We'd head to the phonebox with our coins, wait for the disk tone, dial the number, wait for the answer and drop the coins in. Always a rushed affair, updating on our adventures, sending our love and then the pips would come and that was it. Making a call from a phone box was an event, something to get excited about (for us kids, at least). It was all spoilt when the phone was installed in the house, there was something magical about piling into that box, in the middle of what felt like nowhere back then, and making our calls home. So good to see it's still there. Afterwards, we'd wander up the lane for more adventures.
