Our Parish Council adopted the phone box in main st in 2017, it has been neglected since.
I am in the process of restoring it, it should be completed this month. It will probably be used as a book exchange, however I will hand it back to the council once done for them to decide. I am trying to find if there is any information of when the box was placed in the village, locals are guessing late 50's but we have no evidence. Do you know if there are any records I can look into to ascertain the date of installation?

Long Lawford isn’t too far from me... so popping over to retake images once it done isn’t an issue for me, just let me know when its ready 😊
As for history, sorry to say there is no records of history I hold of when boxes were installed (I don’t believe BT has those sorts of records in a usable fashion, More on this later)
My quick researching this morning online is looking at old maps (see https://maps.nls.uk/os/)
1938 OS map reprinted 1945 (https://maps.nls.uk/view/115635124) shows a TCB (telephone cabinet Booth)

Next clue
This Kiosk was cast by the Bratt Colbran Foundry, which was contracted by the Post Office to produce around 1000 of these kiosks in 1937 (Contract number 77335)
I have looked at a few old archive documents and in “BT_Archives_POST_33_4808.pdf” I found the following confirmation that Bratt Colbran had been requested to produce boxes in March 1937

Also in BT_Archives_POST_33_4808.pdf” record from the spares department show stock of Kiosk around the time of the map above so it is likely that as part of the Jubilee Concession program it could have been installed almost as soon as it was cast.

The Jubilee Concession program was introduced as part of the 1936 royal jubilee celebrations, kiosks were to be provided in every town or village with a post office, regardless of cost. As Long Lawton has a Post office it is likely the Kiosk was placed as part of this program.
